The Rules

Over the course of the King Trivia League, you may play as many times as you like. Every time you play, you will need to hand your Quizmaster your "Team Number."

King Trivia will add your twelve highest scores over the course of the league for a final accumulated league score. During the league you may play as many times as you like but can only play each set of questions one time. The top thirty+ teams will participate in the final Tournament of Champions, where the grand prize will be $1,000.00.

Each team may have as many players as they like, but only 6 team members may participate in the final Tournament of Champions.

Every time you play, you will need to hand your Quizmaster your "Team Number" so that we can properly track your scores.

Two primary rules exist for the King Trivia All City Tournament:

"Have fun" is a simple rule. Have a good time. Imagine you are playing King Trivia on a tropical island while sitting under a palm tree sipping a pina colada. Enough said.

"Don't be lame" is a little more complex. Here are a few of the infinite number of examples of being lame:

  • Playing a 7PM game then running to another bar to play the exact same questions at 9PM is extremely lame.
  • Challenging the Quizmaster is "having fun." Harassing the Quizmaster is inherently lame.
  • Cheating is lame. Remember that regular game rules apply. No shouting out answers. No outside sources such as phones and internet. The Quizmaster's rulings are final.

Remember that we are all here to have a good time. If you need additional examples or would like to share your examples of either "Having Fun" or "Being Lame" then speak with your Quizmaster or contact Josh at contact@kingtrivia.com.

Breaking the two rules can have grave consequences and will be dealt with on a case by case basis. King Trivia reserves the right to alter scores or to exclude any team from competition whether they are cheating or not.

F.A.Q.

How many teams make it to the Tournament of Champions? During League Play can I play at multiple venues throughout the week, or do I need to log all my scores at one location? Am I only allowed to have a maximum of six players on my team? Can I still play at my regular weekly show without registering for the tournament? I have already heard the questions that the Quizmaster is reading. Can I dominate the night and log a huge score because I already know all the questions? Why aren't my scores posted online yet? What's the deal? Are you guys slow? I would like to add or remove team members. There is a team with two scores from the same day. What's the deal? I drink too much and therefore I suck at trivia. I only go to pick up chicks ... I have no chance of making the finals. Why should I register for the tournament? Is there a prize for second, third or fifth place? I live in Texas, Denver or some other far off land. What's the deal? The answer to one of your questions was wrong. It really affected us because we doubled down. Our Quizmaster screwed up and it affected my score! What are you going to do about it? Where will the Tournament of Champions take place? Will spectators be allowed at the Tournament of Champions?

How many teams make it to the Tournament of Champions?

• 30+ teams. If there is room, we might accept additional teams.

During League Play can I play at multiple venues throughout the week, or do I need to log all my scores at one location?

• Knock yourself out. Play at as many locations as you like. Your scores will count no matter where you log them.

Am I only allowed to have a maximum of six players on my team?

• That all depends on where you play. At King Trivia our official rule on team size is that you can have as many players as you want until others start to bitch and moan about it. In The Tournament of Champions, however, you will be limited to six players.

Can I still play at my regular weekly show without registering for the tournament?

• Yes, you can, but you might lose my respect.

I have already heard the questions that the Quizmaster is reading. Can I dominate the night and log a huge score because I already know all the questions?

• No. That would be called cheating. Let your Quizmaster know you have already heard the questions. Odds are he/she has an extra set of questions on him/her. In the odd case that we are not prepared with an extra set of questions, then you should gracefully bow out of the night's event. Playing the same questions twice is obviously LAME!

Why aren't my scores posted online yet? What's the deal? Are you guys slow?

• Scores should be posted within 48 hours. It is your Quizmaster's responsibility to post scores. If your scores are not being posted within 48 hours, then please contact Josh or Brandon. Don't worry about ratting out your favorite Quizmaster. The worst that will happen is that we will make will make them do an hour of keg stands while repeatedly reciting between breaths, "I will post scores within 48 hours."

I would like to add or remove team members.

• Scroll to the top of this screen and click on Team Login. You can make changes to your team line up after logging in.

There is a team with two scores from the same day. What's the deal?

• Either they are cheating or we screwed up the scores. Please contact Josh or Brandon so that we can take care of it.

I drink too much and therefore I suck at trivia. I only go to pick up chicks ... I have no chance of making the finals. Why should I register for the tournament?

• Because you can post a dirty team name on our website.

• So that you can brag to all your friends that you are in a drinking trivia league.

• Because chicks dig it.

Is there a prize for second, third or fifth place?

• We are searching for sponsors to provide those prizes. If you would like to be that sponsor, give Josh a call at 818-808-0008.

• If we fail to attract sponsors (probably because we spend far too much time drinking beer and watching TV and far too little time searching for sponsors), you can remember the age-old adage, "Second place is first loser."

I live in Texas, Denver or some other far off land. What's the deal?

• We will still track scores at your local venue. We will hold a regional tournament in your local area soon. My mom always told me that patience is a virtue.

The answer to one of your questions was wrong. It really affected us because we doubled down.

• Sometimes life sucks. Don't you wish you had a rewind button? 99.9999999% of the time we cannot change scores after a game has ended and a winner has been announced. That being said, if we can fix the situation, we will. Talk to your Quizmaster or contact Josh or Brandon at the official King Trivia offices.

• Our questions go through professional writers, editors and fact checks and are looked at by a minimum of three pairs of eyes and as many as six or more pairs before we use them. That being said, sometimes we screw up. Please let us know if we got anything wrong.

Our Quizmaster screwed up and it affected my score! What are you going to do about it?

• Calm down and drink a beer. In life things happen; think about that time you walked in on your parents having sex. It hurt but you lived. If your Quizmaster can't fix it, give Josh a call or send him an e-mail. 99.9999999% of the time we cannot change scores after a game has ended and a winner has been announced. That being said, if we can fix the situation, we will.

Where will the Tournament of Champions take place?

• Home in Silverlake.

Will spectators be allowed at the Tournament of Champions?

• Although no spectators will be permitted inside the tournament room, you can hang out at the bar just outside and receive regular updates.
