Bad Weather From Southern California's First Spring Storm Rocks The Southland!

Hello everybody, I’m Paul Moyer and this is the Chuy’s Trivia Night Recap at 11.

Our top story tonight, Southern California's first spring storm that began on Wednesday, is expected to bring more heavy bouts of rain Thursday, with lingering showers continuing through Friday morning.  Johnny Mountain will have his full forecast for the weekend tomorrow at six.

In other news, bad weather didn’t keep the die-hard trivia fanatics from showing up at Chuy’s in Simi Valley tonight for an exciting and always educational round of King Trivia with Qiuzmaster Joel Goodman.  Here’s Stu Nahan with the report. Stu?

Thanks Paul, only four teams played tonight, each of them managing to take home a Chuy’s gift card.  Team “Broken Down 6.0” won the drinking round, taking home a prize for defeating all other players in a round of Rock, Paper, Scissors.  On the trivia side of the game, Team Rocket propelled themselves to a comfortable 27-point victory over Box Full of Puppies and We Shoulda Doubled.

But that wasn’t the only excitement for the night.  It turned out that a tie-breaking question was needed to determine the second and third place finish.  Box Full Of Puppies sealed their second place win with an answer of $25 million as to how much money 1985’s Rocky IV made art the domestic box office.  The shorthanded We Shoulda Doubled finished in third.  And that’s it from Chuy’s tonight, Paul?

Thanks Stu.  As is now becoming a tradition here at the Recap at 11, here’s Christine Lund with today’s “Tonight’s Word For Tomorrow.”  Christine?

Thanks Paul, Tonight’s word is piscine.  Pronounced “pahy-seen” or “pis-ahyn, -een, -in,” it’s an adjective meaning “of, relating to, or resembling a fish or fishes.”   So there you have it, use it!  And as always, let us know you used it by following us on all of the usual social media platforms. Paul?

Thanks Christine, that'll do it for all of us over here.  Cheers is next.

Goodnight you sweet piscine.

Whoa Doctor!  It may have been raining last night, but Chuy’s in Simi was on fire!  The house was packed and we had eight amazing teams going at it for another fun night of trivia shenanigans!

Team Trainwreck DOMINATED.  With 9 players on their team, they took home first prize squeaking out a hard fought victory over Team Rocket. They also won the drinking round competition, which was a valiantly played game of paper football!

Team Rocket just barely missed out on first place, falling behind by just two points, while Desserts finished comfortably in third place.

Things you may have missed last night: My incredibly bad JFK impersonation, Pace Picante sauce references, and of course leaving you worries behind, 'Cause rain, shine, don't mind, We're ridin' on the GROOVE LINE tonight!

Whoo Hoo!

According to Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia,

“Pinball Number Count (or Pinball Countdown) is a collective title referring to 11 one-minute animated segments on the popular PBS children's series Sesame Street that teach children to count to 12 by following the journey of a pinball through a rather fanciful pinball machine.

These segments are notable for the colorful, imaginative animation as well as the funky "one, two, three, four, five...." soundtrack provided by The Pointer Sisters. Pinball Number Count was originally produced in 1976 by Imagination, Inc. in San Francisco, California for the Children's Television Workshop. It made its debut on Sesame Street in 1977.”

Well now we know.  These are the things we learn when playing trivia at the hottest club north of Havana, Chuy’s in Simi Valley.  Team “3 Some” celebrated their drinking round victory after answering a question about the Pinball Number Count, and then guessing it was that dreamy Davvy Jones on a follow up question.

But when it came time to work for that big prize, it was team “We Shoulda Doubled” that successfully played a double or nothing in the 5th round to clinch the early win.  Team “Trainwreck” once again put up a valiant effort finishing in second place.

See you all next Wednesday at 7pm with more shenanigans!
