Parting is always such sweet sorrow. With the holidays approaching, tonight's Trivia Extravaganza was set to be the last one for Rasselbock before the New Year. That's what made it all the more special to see the return of so many champions.

Germans Love David Rasselbock, the reigning leaders of the restaurant, brought in new team members and a renewed energy for their triumphant homecoming. Likewise, the incomparable duo of Heroes of Canton arrived ready to fight for a spot on the leaderboard.

Round after round, quizzers new and old threw caution to the wind and fought for every hard-earned point. Doubles were downed, friendships were shattered, and teams left early to get home because they had work the next day and wanted to be "responsible."

As it was National Wright Brothers Day, we celebrated with an impromptu Paper Airplane Flight-Off. Newcomers Selke engineered a complex and unorthodox "flying donut" that outshone the competition by a mile, earning them the coveted potato pancakes.

In Round 5, Heroes of Canton leaped over the competition, rising three ranks into First Place. This put the returning champs on their heels, and David Rasselbock excels under pressure. In the final two rounds, they managed to draw even and finally overcome their competition with some handy video-game knowledge.

At the end of the contentious evening, David Rasselbock held the top spot, Heroes of Canton took second, and newcomers Koalabock earned their first win at third. We hope to see all these shining faces, new and old, in the New Year.

Happy Holidays and a Happy New Year to all of you, from the incredible Rasselbock family. We'll see you on Tuesday nights, 9PM, in 2020.

Another week, another epic battle of wits at Rasselbock Kitchen and Grill. The chef was cooking up a special batch of delicious plum pie in the back, sending a decadent aroma into the main room that aroused the kind of hunger only trivia can sate.

This is all to say that Tuesday night was a banger.

Ten teams arrived--many for the first time--with the goal of utter domination on their minds. Those dreams were quickly dashed after an incredibly difficult Round 3 sent a few teams spiraling. These newbies thought they had all the answers, but they'd underestimated just what it means to be the King of Trivia.

The Appetizer Round had our contestants wildly Googling on their cell phones, trying to be the first to find obscure bits of trivia. The winners were The Deweys, a new group with no experience in the KT arena. They took their pancakes and set their sights on the grand prize.

In Round 5 and 6, two teams separated fully from the pack. The Deweys and Whoa That's a Lot of Points were neck and neck, vying for the top spot of the night. It seemed we were destined for a tie-breaker showdown.

Then, in Round 7, it all came down to a Double. One team was brave, the other cautious. One team risked it all, the other played the odds. WTaLoP went for broke...and SCORED! 78-68 for the win, and an incredible score for their first ever KT game.

Come on down to Rasselbock, where every Tuesday is Trivia Night!

Foul weather brought out a small group of determined quizzers this fine Tuesday evening. When a number of teams arrived to find their members absent, several decided to form super groups rather than go it alone against the veterans. This led to a few powerful combinations of new and old players, each bringing their skills to bear for this epic throw down.

What made the quiz even better was the presence of another QM in training: Edward. This bespectacled tall drink of water used his experience running a movie theater to win over the crowd. By Round 3, they were chanting his name and raising banners in his honor.

But of course the night wasn't about a coronation. It was about a bit of trivia. Seven rounds of trivia to be precise. After just a few, it was clear that the super groups had an advantage. They knew when to double and when to play safe. They covered each other, deploying expert knowledge at a moment's notice.

As always, the Double Down proved the defining line between winners and losers (#therearenolosersinkingtrivia). When Random Awesome Strangers doubled up during the penultimate round, they cleared the path to victory. That's what made the epic rise of A-Z so special. They'd lagged behind for most of the night, but a brave couple of doubles put them in striking distance of first place.

In the end, no one knew much about a Heptathalon. The few that managed to guess well separated from the pack and took their place on the coveted stage.

Special props go to Team Ash, who arrived with no prior knowledge of King Trivia or the general rules of the game. They played hard and earned a free tray of Potato Pancakes, which we can only assume awoke an appetite that can only be sated by more trivia.

Come on down to Rasselbock every Tuesday night for King Trivia!
