Crouching Vegan, Hidden Doctor! That team name basically sums up the awesomeness that happened tonight at The Arsenal.  If you never been to the Arsenal before, there are two different areas inside (three if you include the outdoor area).  The Red Room is where King Trivia takes place.  The main entry area (where the main bar is located) is the primary seating location.  Tonight was the first time I had a team playing trivia all the way in the main entry area.  That may seem unexciting to most, but to me, it's the dawn of a new era! As you can see in the first photo, there are windows in the wall that separates the Red Room from the main entry area.  If you look extra hard, you'll see how Crouching Vegan, Hidden Doctor got their team name.  It was very fun to have a team on the other side and I hope that this venture becomes more common.  Imagine, the ENTIRE Arsenal listening to my sultry voice playing along.  That is the dream, people.

Congratulations to our winners tonight!

It all came down to a tie breaker again at The Arsenal!  Tonight's questions were very challenging and prevented teams from doubling down outside of the handout rounds.  Ancient Geezers (pictured third) had some new recruits playing with the captain that caused some drama when they turned in the answer sheet without the captain's permission.  When the captain returned to the table and realized that the answer sheet was gone before his approval, there was hell to pay.  The captain blames this premature answer concession for their third place finish.  At the top of the scores, however, were two teams tied at 52.  The Primorsk Players (pictured first) did everything they could to get to the top, including doubling down in the 6th and dominating round 7 by naming the most countries that legalized gay marriage first.  They even registered their team name to give them a two point boost.  And when it came to the tie breaker question, they hit the nail right on the head when they guessed that 16 million was the number of men that descended from Genghis Khan.  House of Nerdz (pictured second) was shocked but gave them props for the great answer.  It's great to have such nice and respectful trivia teams at the Arsenal.  Can't wait to see you all again next Monday at 7pm!

Tonight, I learned why it is important to know an alcohol consuming sports fan and invite them to King Trivia.  It pays off when the questions are mostly about sports and alcohol.  Two subjects my teachers always told me to not pay attention to in high school.  Little did Mrs. Duberstein know that I needed to study those topics in order to beat Mooch Ado About Nothing (AKA Westeros Baptist Church AKA the number one ranked team in league play!).  This team is notorious at Arsenal for their constant winning.  Tonight was a different story though.  I saw them struggling late in the 5th round when they failed to double down successfully with the connection round.  The common bond was classic cocktails and, I learned during this round, this number one team does not drink alcoholic beverages (is that how they are ranked number one?!).  They doubled down anyway since they were desperate for an instant 20 point boost.  That did not go in their favor, unfortunately.  They then proceeded to fail doubling down two more rounds to end the game.  They were definitely out of their element tonight, which is weird to see.  I guess that goes to show you that when it comes to bar trivia, it is helpful to have a variety of different lifestyles within your group.  I would now take this time to find an alcohol guzzling sports fan to join your ranks, Westeros Baptist Church.  Shouldn't be too hard to find in this crazy town.
