About The Famous Bar

The Famous craft cocktail lounge is located in Glendale's historic Huntley-Evans building, directly across the street from the Americana at Brand. It follows an eclectic and rich pedigree of establishments that have called this building home in the last century, most notably the early Glendale landmark, The Famous Department Store. The Famous, true to its heritage, embraces the classic art of fine craft cocktail creation, invented in the United States in 1856, using bitters, juices, syrups, and infusions, prepared in-house using fresh ingredients from local markets and growers. Cocktails served at The Famous are identical to those served nearly 100 years ago when the building was constructed.

TriviaSaurus Rex broke hard out of the gate this week at The Famous in Glendale, and held on to the lead from start to finish. In honor of this dominant performance, we offer a few fun facts about their namesake critter:

  • Tyrannosaurus Rex Wasn't the Biggest Meat-Eating Dinosaur. At 40 feet from head to tail and seven to nine tons of body mass, you might think the Rex was the biggest carnivorous dinosaur that ever lived. But no, T. Rex was outclassed by not one, but two other dinosaurs - the South American Giganotosaurus, which weighed about nine tons, and the northern African Spinosaurus, which tipped the scales at 10 tons.
  • The Arms of Tyrannosaurus Rex Weren't as Tiny as You Thought. Though they were certainly disproportionately tiny compared to the rest of its massive body, T. Rex's arms were well over three feet long.
  • The Rex Had Very Bad Breath. It figures, right? I mean, those tiny arms made it impossible for the Rex to brush the shards of rotten, bacteria-infested meat that would constantly lodge in its numerous, closely packed teeth. And very few of them flossed.
  • Female Tyrannosaurus Rex Were Bigger than the Males. I mean, come on. It figures, right?

You might reasonably ask: did any members of TriviaSaurus Rex have unusually short arms and notable bad breath? Come on over to The Famous next week and see for yourself! See ya then!
