About 619 Spirits North Park

619 Spirits North Park is San Diego’s first urban craft distillery and tasting room with a full restaurant and bar, located in the heart of the city’s North Park neighborhood. Brought to you by the makers of Six One Nine Vodka, known for our premium handcrafted vodka and signature all-natural vodka infusions.

The distillery portion of the space, open to the public for tours, houses a custom-made two-column 1,000L still. The adjacent tasting room is anchored by a large bar featuring spirits and cocktails by both 619 and other local distilleries. The kitchen features a dynamic menu of seasonal offerings that complement the tasting room’s craft cocktail offerings.

Located in the vibrant North Park area – known for its Craftsman bungalows, art galleries, critically acclaimed restaurants and a myriad of nightlife options – 619 Spirits North Park occupies 4,200 square feet of a reclaimed industrial space at the corner of 30th Street and Lincoln Avenue.

Founder Nick Apostolopoulos conceptualized the 619 Distillery & Tasting Room as a central gathering place for the community: cocktail classes, summer BBQs and art events are all on the horizon. Local artist Jason Feather produced several custom works for the space, including a large graffiti installation on the dog-friendly outdoor patio.

ABOUT 619 VODKA

Named for the city’s primary area code, Six One Nine Vodka launched in 2012 and is widely available in bars and restaurants as well as retail outlets throughout the San Diego area.

Founder Nick Apostolopoulos, a former software architect and long-time spirits aficionado, recognized that San Diego needed its own super-premium handcrafted vodka. At the time, local and state laws made it nearly impossible to establish a distillery within the city limits. By 2015, regulations loosened, and Six One Nine Vodka began entirely producing its award-winning vodka in the city of San Diego. Six One Nine Vodka is distilled entirely from cane sugar (most vodkas use wheat or corn) resulting in a uniquely clean and smooth texture and natural absence of gluten.

What a game! It was a nail biter til the very end.

We had 4 new teams show up tonight to challenge our defending champions, Handful of Penne, and they were out for blood. The night started with newcomers Central Gold Standard using a classic psyche out of taking Penne's regular table and only got more intense from there.

By the end of round 3 only 1 point separated 4 of the teams. Penne was in third and admitted, "We may not win tonight". A massive Double or Nothing in Round 5 and sweeping rounds 6 and 7 were barely enough for our champs to 4-peat and edge out Central Gold Standard and BellyButts.

When all the dust settled, only 5 points separated the top three teams and Penne took home the top spot with a 74 to 73 score over Central. It was a fight to the finish!

More importantly, we had a blast! DJ Coop was on point with his songs. At one point Central couldn't decide if they should turn in their answer for Guess Where and he played "Under Pressure" while they decided. New Quizmaster, Laura, took a few rounds and held her own with this raucous and lively crowd.

Who is up for the challenge to dethrone Penne next week? Bueller...Bueller...? Come on out to 619 Spirits and try your luck.

Game Rank Team # Team Name Score Teams Beaten Team Beat Average
1 22947 Handful of Penne 74 4 1.000
2 23146 Central Gold Standard 73 3 0.750
3 23150 BellyButts 69 2 0.500
4 It's Only Cannibalism If You Swallow 62 1 0.250
5 Whiskey Breath 35 0 0.000

Third Time's a Charm

Three-peat. They came to play and team 22947 (AKA Handful of Penne this week) held on to their title again this week. They are proving to be a real force at 619. They swept the answers in a few rounds and even took the Survey Slam Drink Round again this week.

Dare we say dynasty? Maybe. Maybe not. Tiger Cubs and Getting Trivvy with it, both new challengers, hung in there for the first three rounds, giving the defending champs a little scare. One point separated all three teams until "Guess What?" gave Handful a lead they would not lose the rest of the night. Everyone went big, risking a guess in the early clues, but only Handful guessed "what" correctly. They took 6 points, while Tiger Cubs and Getting Trivvy with It both lost a point.

True to form, Handful of Penne not only won the trivia but they continued to provide comic relief with great jokes and epic wrong answers (we have a little tradition at 619 that if you do not know the answer to a question, you go big with something funny or outrageous). Following on their lead, newcomers Tiger Cubs gave a few hilarious responses in the "Short and Sweet" round with "Short on Ideas" and "We are coming up a little short" for two of their answers. If you can't beat the champs, at least be funnier.

DJ Coop was again spinning some awesome tunes, starting an impromptu "name the movie" intermission game - Coop played a tuned and everyone yelled out the movie that played the song. I may have been the oldest in the crowd, but our teams knew their classic songs and movies!

Next week is building to be an epic time. Coop will bring his DJ A-Game (maybe another round of "name the movie" and he will certainly keep matching the songs to the questions). Handful of Penne will seek to win their 4th straight (and come up with another clever name), and our challengers have vowed to bring reinforcements to dethrone them. You do not want to miss it and you do not want to let Handful of Penne win again, do you?

Game Rank Team # Team Name Score Teams Beaten Team Beat Average
1 22947 Handful of Penne 50 2 1.000
2 Getting Trivvy with It 36 1 0.500
3 Tiger Cubs 19 0 0.000

Whoever said a small group of people couldn't rock the world never saw a King Trivia event! We rocked 619 Spirits last night.

The Derek Experience started off the night with a daring double or nothing and aced the first round to take a commanding lead that they never relinquished.

Dorsal Phin put up a fight and was stellar by herself against the formidable returning champions, but most importantly they all had a blast. In fact, the competition was so much fun that Derek Experience won the #DadJoke contest and awarded the free drink to Dorsal - now that is the true spirit of Pub Trivia! (Or maybe they thought it would impair her thinking enough to give them the edge...)

DJ Coop was crushing the tunes again, with songs that matched the questions crossing over three decades. He got a standing O from the crowd at the end of the night. We also had a special guest in Rudy who rocked rounds 3 and 5 for us. Though he said he is used to spitting rhymes as a freestyler, his trivia questions flowed just as well.

Fun times. We laughed, we learned, we missed you, though. My call to action is to assemble your team and come see us next Wednesday because the Derek Experience said they can't be beat. They swept two rounds this week and threw down the gauntlet. Will anyone challenge them?

See you next week!
