QUIZ RECAP

What a phenomenal crowd we had tonight at Edna Vees! Eleven teams had fun with some challenging rounds (if I do say so myself). A couple teams just couldn't go the distance, but one team DID, and were rewarded with a $30 gift card to Edna Vees. Not bad!

Boogie Shoes Hit the ground at breakneck speed, hitting all other teams with a successful Double (the only Double attempted in the night), and more than doubles the scores of the other team sin Round One. Round Four laid waste to four teams, each getting a point deducted...and for what, a trombone? Pfft.

After we took a break for the hydration round (and some ladies showing up just how talented their mouths were), the game continued on...with more bloodshed from tough questions. After the final Round, Boogie Shoes reaped the reward of their smarts (and Double), and took the top spot. However, R&R and Mischief Managed were tied for 2nd, and after a quick tie breaker question, it was MM that emerged victorious, and kept the 2nd spot. R&R falling to 3rd.

QUIZ RECAP

Well hello there, Edna Vees! I subbed for your regular Quizzmaster tonight and let me tell ya - you guys SHOWED UP!

The first couple of rounds were tough - no one got a perfect score. But you guys made sure to show me who's boss in rounds three and four - where we had almost every team get nearly perfect scores.

Our beer round had King Koopas and Mischief Managed head to head. But I gave an extra point to the team who could also guess the theme as well. And Mischief Managed guessed correctly! I hope you enjoyed your beers... they always taste better when they're free.

And finally, Kelly's Buying How Many Rounds? put every other team to shame two rounds in a row by having TWO successful Double or Nothings. That sling shot them to first place and they held on to it until the very end.

Thank you, Edna Vees, for letting me have the privilege of sharing your trivia night with you this week! One day, I'll come back and play on your side instead!

QUIZ RECAP

It was a fun and loud night at Edna Vees in Covina. We had stiff competition and lots of cheers and giggles! Round 1 had Coacoa Puffs jump ahead right out of the gate with a daring double down and a score of 12. I didn't think anyone would catch them. Gnomies OG was hot on their trail for most of the game until they got a devastating 0 in round 6! They managed to finish 4th, just outside of the money, or in this case, beer cozies.

Meanwhile, by round 3, The Shamrockies were tied for first with Coacoa Puffs with 18, then overtook them by 2 points in round 4 with an 8 for a total of 26. Mischief Managed started slow- but slow and steady was the name of the game for them as they began to overtake Boogie Shoes with a late run in round 6.

It was starting to look like a fight for third between Boogie Shoes, Mischief Managed, The Youngs and Gnomies OG when Boogies and Gnomies got a 1 and a 0 in round 6 respectively. Boogie Shoes tried to rally in the 7th with a devastating double down gamble that did not pay off. And inexplicably, The Youngs ducked out of the 7th although they were tied for third in the 6th! Odds Rallied from a -1 in the 4th to a lucky 7 in the 7th to finish with a fun and exciting 20. I must say, their personalities just made the night, it really is all how you play the game!

Finally in the 7th Mischief Managed "managed" to pull ahead of most of the field with their equally impressive lucky 7 in the 7th and managed to nip the finish line for 3rd. But not all was lost as we had a sing off in the drinking round between Gnomies OG and Shamrockies. Both players belted out a helluva tune, but Scott from Gnomies won with his rockin' rhythm and stellar voice. Awesome!

And while that battle was going on, the one for first was getting hotter and hotter as Shamrockies and Coacoa Puffs were neck and neck, ever more than those 2 points separating them since round 4. It was down to the wire as they rounded the turn for home in the 7th. Coacoa Puffs won the round with a 6 to Shamrockies 5, but it just wasn't enough as ShamWOWs had been ahead by 2, so they just pulled ahead enough in the photo finish to win by a single point. Way to go lucky Irish Shamrocky champs! What a great and edge-of-your-seat victory!
