- PUB QUIZ—Thursdays @ 7:30pm
A chilly night. Pasadena Peeps dominated, winning the game AND the drinking round. Second Cousins almost had second but lost it by a mere point to Two girls, a guy and a pizza ace.
For the drinking round, inspired by the Get Back documentary, I had them write as many Beatles albums as they could think of, only albums released while they were together as a band. With 13 possibilities, Second Cousins had 11 of 13 with the Peeps getting 12 out 13, missing only Yellow Submarine. Second Cousins needed a little Help!
Well done.

It's getting nippy! The rubbing of hands was getting to be more common than I was expecting in later rounds. Had gloves just in case but it hasn't come to that. Yet.
Today was a hectic one and procuring a playlist was on my mind but just wasn't possible until an hour before I had to leave. Luckily it worked out quickly and had good music choices to coincide with the rounds and questions. Greg said he likes coming because he "never knows what's going to come out of my speakers." That was very nice to hear. For the unfamiliar, I played under a wonderful quizmaster for many years before becoming a host, and realized how picking songs that go with questions and sometimes hint at answers makes the game more fun. Thank you, Mr. Michael Miller, the host with most. It's always great when some one appreciates the music you choose. For example, the box office bomb Battleship was an answer for round one. Erasure's Ship of Fools was an ideal choice to play as one of the songs for that round hehe.
Anyway it was a back and forth between the Pasadena Peeps and their satellite team the Beeps for tonight, with the peeps just *barely* eking it out by a point for the win. Phineas Anne Furb took third with Shellie Jamtroyd winning the drinking round by composing a very clever haiku. Haiku was a question in round one as well so I had them write a haiku and my fave would win the round. I had mentioned that it was a shame Michael McKean (Mr. Green!) was left out of the Clue question and they worked him and two other films into their haiku! It's included in the picture set. All the teams submitted correctly formatted haikus. Nicely done!

A good showing tonight, apparently some cornhole contraptions are being built in the back of the patio so sadly Flux Capacitors had to stand tonight. Some movements in the top three but in the end it was Pasadena Peeps that took third, Least Expectations missing first by a mere point (but they won the drinking round so overall a good night for them) and You Thought We Smelled Bad on the Outside taking first. For the drinking round, in honor of Veterans Day, I had them name the six branches of the US Military and their mottos. We had several times tie with seven correct.
