One fateful day three decades ago, five boys picked up a game of handball during school recess on a Fountain Valley playground. They grew up together, became life-long friends and pursued their own ambitions. But they shared a deep love for their hometown and dreamed of one day opening a restaurant together where they could share good food, good drinks and reminisce about good times. The Recess Room is their childhood dream come to life.

Florescent balloons and mini bundt cakes could be seen Tuesday night among trivia cards and puzzled looks. Knock on Wood celebrated a very special birthday and got the correct answer to Round 4 first, scoring them a free appetizer.

Thirsty Pretzels took an early lead that they were able to sustain throughout the festive night. Newcomers Is there a prize for third place? joined the game late, but still managed to have a good time and take home that 3rd place prize.

The evening started with two teams, and ended with four! I'm assuming it was because everyone was out doing their civic duty -- good on you guys!

The Thirsty Pretzels were our big winners tonight, impressively doubling down on two rounds and getting the 10-point Adam Sandler clue (show-offs!), and it was all smooth sailing from there. Home Team came in second and claimed that free Recess Room appetizer! Who's the Boss? was holding their breath for that third place win. Despite doubling down incorrectly with only one wrong answer in Round 5 (I felt your pain, guys!), they scored that $10 gift card with only two points ahead of Young G turns 33!

Shoutout to everyone for not making fun of me as "macabre" became harder to pronounce every time I said it -- I'll blame it on the beer sneaking up on me instead of just really overthinking it. Hah!

It was a cold Tuesday night with a warm and lively crowd at the Recess Room. Thirsty Pretzels took an early lead and secured it by getting perfect scores on rounds 6 and 7.

 

With old timers amd newcomers using their brains and enjoying excellent food, there is no doubt that the recess room is the place to be on Tuesday nights.
