QUIZ RECAP

A tough night kept everybody's scores in check this week! We all braced for the forecasted thunderstorm that never came, but it was the intensity of the trivia for which we ought to have battened down the hatches.

In the end, it was The Bar who emerged victorious with 70 points! As they cannot win a prize, we called it 0th place and moved on down to The Test Tickles with 59 points! Their Round 3 double and their 10-point guess in Round 4 put them right up at the top. Next was The Brewsual Suspects with 47 points! Despite an unsuccessful Round 7 double attempt, their Round 3 double and consistent high scores kept them near the front of the pack. Third prize went to Cool Princess 500 with 42 points! Scoring high in the early and late rounds, they managed to keep it together and earn their reward. Well done, all teams!

A photo finish to a consistently close game this week at Brouwerij West! Throughout the evening, almost all our teams stayed within ten points of each other, leading to a rare DOUBLE-TIEBREAKER. But only three can emerge with prizes!

In the end, The Amigos + 1 & Proxy came out on top with 59 points! They guessed in the tiebreaker that Crater Lake was 2,000 feet -- and it was 1,945. Their tiebreaker win followed two consecutive doubles in the last rounds, boosting them from almost-last to very-first. That meant second place went to Cool Princess 500 with 59 points, as their tiebreaker guess was 1,800 feet -- a very, very narrow second place after a high-scoring game and a Round 7 double! In third came The Test Tickles with 58 points, whose 1,700-foot tiebreaker guess was a bit closer than The Brewsual Suspects' 10,000-foot guess. A nailbiter! Well done, all teams!

A warm reception back to my beloved Brouwerij West after last week's absence was exactly the medicine this poor raspy Quizmaster needed! That, along with the honey and tea I slammed all night, kept my throat from completely fleeing my body during our game. And what a game it was!

In the end, it was The Test Tickles who hiked their way all the way up to 79 points to grab first! With doubles in Rounds 1, 2, and 5 and near-perfect scores in the last couple rounds, they firmly secured their place in the top spot. They were followed by The Brewsual Suspects in second at 68 points! Their only scoring difference from the first-place team was one answer in Round 2 -- and of course, a lack of that two-point bonus from a registered team number. In third came 900 Dollarydoo$ with 64 points, who rocked back and forth in the early rounds with a successful double in Round 2 and an unsuccessful attempt in Round 3. A well-placed Round 5 double brought them back up into range to grab third place. Well done, all teams!

A reminder, though, that if a member of your team is holding a device that could be used as an outside source, your team will not be able to score points for that round -- or, as we saw last night, a tiebreaker. Keep those phones in pockets, just to be safe!
