Brouwerij West sure gave me a warm welcome on my first night! It was a great night with tough questions and plenty of bold doubles by teams - many were unsuccessful!

My favorite round was the "Guess Who?" because eight teams turned in wrong answers for the 10-point clue. That really shook up the standings and allowed other teams to catch up, keeping the race close til the end.

Throughout the entire evening, Counter Intelligence was a frontrunner. Doubles in Rounds 1, 2, 3, and 6 gave them a solid lead and they took home the first place spot with a comfortable 79 points. In second, Mild Stallions had a similar successful doubling record. Third place went to Triple Dippers, who only had 5 points after Round 4, but made an incredible comeback in Rounds 5-7 with three back-to-back doubles that led them into the third place spot.

We had a beautiful sunset and a beautiful crowd for tonight's trivia at this wonderful indoor/outdoor brewery. Two of the teams had strong starts by Doubling their points, which would prove to be helpful as only couple teams would Double in later rounds. No one could Guess Who? on the first clue and some groups even lost a point this round. The final round proved to be one of the outdoorsy types - and while some teams had some great comebacks, it just wasn't enough to catch up to our top teams of Counter Intelligence, Pacific Coast Dog, and Mild Stallions who all walked away winners with gift cards to the brewery.

As a Quizmaster you absolutely become invested in the teams that come back week after week. I have come to love some of the enormous teams that win a lot like the Mild Stallions, Pacific Coast Dog, or Counter Intelligence, but I have also developed an affinity for some of the underdogs who come week after week.

One team that I like to cheer for is Uncomfortably Dumb. This is a much smaller team with only 2 or 3 people, compared to the teams of 10+ that often come to Brouwerji West. Uncomfortably Dumb hadn't played in a few weeks, but they came back to trivia this week and were stronger than ever. They were the underdog going into the game with only 3 people, and their game started out a bit rocky with several rounds of being middle of the pack. Then in classic inspirational underdog sports film fashion they double or nothinged round number 6 and began to rise through the ranks and they ended the game with third place! I was so excited to see this team place and finally get rewarded for their diligent attendance throughout the last year. In second we had Triple Dipper, which is also a smaller team with a very cute little mascot (see pictures). And in first we had Counter Intelligence!

I left trivia this week feeling totally inspired by Uncomfortably Dumb's third place victory. You are not Uncomfortably Dumb at all!
