Huge turnout this week at Rasselbock.

20 teams partook in trivia, with nary an empty seat to be found.

Break the Slump and Giddy Up jumped off to early leads, each with 7 in the first and doubling in the second. Giddy Up pulled ahead with another double in the third, and they would build an 11 point lead after four rounds. Duke Silver Backing Band was the only team to double in round 5, rocketing them up to first place by a point. Giddy Up took it back by a point in round 6.

Drunk Math Tutors got off to a rough start, with 0 points in the first round, but they kicked it into gear just in time. They doubled in both 6 and 7--regarding rappers' hometowns and Natalie Portman's highest grossing movies--to come from 21 points down to win by 4. Giddy Up and Duke Silver finished second and third, separated by just a point.

Hopefully Not Last won the drinking round.

QUIZ RECAP

Bakshi Boys came away with the victory at Rasselbock this week, overcoming a failed first round double. They doubled in round 2, then clawed their way back to first place by getting the Guess Who round at 8 points when no other team achieved more than 4. They doubled in round 7 to hold their narrow lead over Drink Coffee at the Merchant, who also doubled to finish with 69 points. Nice.

Drunk Math Tutors missed the first two rounds, but almost made third place after a fantastic double-double finish. Alas, Seymour Butts bested them by 5 after also doubling the final round.

$5 Footlong won the drinking round.

QUIZ RECAP

No team ever led by more than 3 points this week in a close match at Rasselbock. Twas a big night, with 15 teams participating. No doubles in the first two rounds left the scores fairly even early in the game. 8(!) teams doubled in an unusually easy round three, however, creating a level of separation. Drink Coffee at the Merchant, who did not double that round, made up for it with the only double in round 5. That gave them the largest lead of the night, at just three points, which they were able to barely hang onto.

The final round was naming the top coffee-exporting countries, and Drink Coffee at the Merchant was almost disqualified due to the oft-forgotten "if you have 'coffee' in your team name and you can't get 2/3 of the questions right in a coffee round, you lose" rule, but a merciful judgement allowed them to claim their title. Giddy Up gained ground on the question, but couldn't quite overcome the deficit. Area 51 miraculously was successful on a hail mary double-or-nothing in round 7, which catapulted them from 9th to 3rd to round out the podium.

Area 51 also won the drinking round.
